How to share a screenshot as a link

To share a screenshot as a link, upload it and copy the link instead of sending the image file. With BaseShot, you take the screenshot, click Upload and copy link on the preview, and paste the link anywhere. Viewers open it in their browser, and you can update the image later without changing the link.

With BaseShot

  1. Download and open BaseShot. It runs from the system tray on Windows and the menu bar on Mac.
  2. Click the BaseShot icon and choose Capture Area, Capture Window, Capture Full Screen, or Scrolling Capture.
  3. A preview of the screenshot appears in the corner of your screen.
  4. Click the link button (Upload and copy link) on the preview. BaseShot uploads the screenshot and copies the link.
  5. Paste the link into a chat, email, ticket, or document.

Sharing links are part of BaseShot Cloud ($6 per person a month). The first time, BaseShot asks you to sign in and opens checkout if you don’t have Cloud yet.

Annotate before you share

  1. Click Edit on the preview to open the screenshot in the editor.
  2. Add arrows, text, highlights, or numbered counters, and use Redact to hide anything private.
  3. Click Done, then click Upload and copy link on the preview.

Already shared it? Edit the screenshot and choose Update Cloud Copy when BaseShot asks. The link and its comments stay the same.

Control who can view it

Open your library at baseshot.io/cloud, click More options on a screenshot, and choose Privacy Settings:

  • Anyone with link
  • Password protected
  • Team members only
  • Only me

Use Comment Settings in the same menu to choose who can comment.

Why a link instead of the image file

  • Long or scrolling screenshots stay sharp. Chat apps often shrink and compress large images.
  • People can comment on the screenshot itself, so feedback stays in one place.
  • You can fix a mistake after sending, and everyone sees the new version at the same link.
  • You can make a link private or delete it later, which you can’t do with an image someone already downloaded.
